The only thing KIP does is make empty promises. Remember all the promises about a water filtration system, expandable waste water treatment system to allow Union Bay and Royston to hook in at their own expense. Remember all the puffery about KIP wasn’t looking for investors, blah blah when it first darkened our doorway. Now word has it that it’s owned by Chinese investors. Ole slick is pretty confident his sewage application will be approved – isn’t going to be held to the MDA.
This sleazy developer never gave a shit about you or Union Bay. KIP didn’t screw Union Bay alone, had lots of help from assholes who were patted on the head and told how smart they were like the UBID trustees and admin.
The Molstad board hired professional negotiators and when Jacques, Loxam and Bitten were elected they got rid of the professionals and negotiated DOWN because KIP wanted it.
When a developer shows up in a community and wants to share their resources they usually give something significant to the community like an arena/ sports centre, etc. Both the 2011 WIA and the Oct. 2017 Water Agreement between UBID and KIP were negotiated by individuals who had as much experience as you do as a negotiator.
Ask any one of the trustees involved in any of the agreements with KIP what they asked for that they didn’t get and what did KIP ask for that wasn’t given? I would bet money they didn’t ask for anything other than KIP paying for the difference in building costs to house 2 DAF plants instead of the 1 we needed. They were clueless and think they negotiated a great deal. What did Union Bay get? Fuck all and you’re not going to get anything else because you believed the bullshit for the last 20 years. No playground, no new roof for the community hall – nothing, because assholes negotiated your future.
This developer has given squat to Union Bay and the manipulation and bad decisions will be felt long after we are gone. The gong show trustees sold the 20 acres of land by Langley Lake because KIP told them it would cost too much to develop and instead talked them into 4 acres at the same elevation as the old waterworks. There is nowhere to expand those 4 acres if needed. Dooming the future residents to duplicate infrastructure needlessly, because a developer told them how smart they were and they believed it. Dunning Kruger effect.
