UBID still can’t honestly answer questions about turbidity testing. Keep boiling that water!

Why didn’t they post the ‘new’ regulation of 1. NTU if it came into effect in August 2018. Where is it?

Still can’t provide honest answers about the turbidity testing previously done by the water superintendent. Their own video confirms they knew they ‘could’ issue a boil water advisory, but they don’t. What are they afraid of?

As for what the district did in the past ten years when a limit of one NTU was exceeded, their statement read that any time turbidity levels exceeded the standard of the time, the health authourities were contacted.

Signs were placed as quickly as possible? Placed once they actually had them which was NOT the case. You can’t claim all boil notification went out in 2 – 3 hours if you didn’t have the signs or follow their own Emergency Response Contingency Plan. What’s the point of having a plan without the tools necessary to implement the plan?

“All businesses were contacted as per indicated in the ERCP (Emergency Response Contingency Plan) and signs were placed as quickly as possible along with an updated notice on the website and contact was made with the media. There is no actual timeline for when these activities should happen. Being the first time UBID has issued a notice to boil water there will be some revisions to the process. We are happy with our response from time from the issue to boil all notifications having gone out (2-3 hours).”

NO TIMELINE ON BOIL-WATER NOTICE ENDING IN UNION BAY: UBID

UNION BAY, B.C- There is no firm timeline on when the boil water notice will end in Union Bay.

That’s according to the Union Bay Improvement District (UBID) who replied to a list of emailed questions sent by the MyComoxValleyNow.com newsroom earlier in January.

The district has said there is no timeline that can be put on water quality notifications, except for specific situations, such as planned maintenance.

The current boil water notice was issued due to turbidity levels that were higher than the system’s current standard of one NTU, which was switched from a three-NTU limit in August by Island Health.

“The decision to lift the boil water notice is ultimately a decision made by our drinking water officer,” said the district.

As for what the district did in the past ten years when a limit of one NTU was exceeded, their statement read that any time turbidity levels exceeded the standard of the time, the health authourities were contacted.

The district also touched on their notification practices for the boil-water notice, after some members of the Union Bay area had been concerned about the way notification was handled.

“The emergency plan was followed,” read the district’s statement.

The district statement also indicated that the UBID trustees did not have to be notified about the boil water notice. Instead, staff are meant to contact the chair of the trustee board, who is the channel between staff and the rest of the board.

Asked about testing being conducted on water from Langley Lake, the area’s water source, the district said that turbidity still exceeds Island Health parameters, and total coliform testing had results within water quality parameters.

The final question asked about when a report on the district’s turbidity tree would be available to residents. In reply, the district stated that their turbidity tree can be seen online, and in the district office.

An assessment report on Union Bay’s entire water system is still being reviewed by external agencies.

“This report must be approved by the drinking water office prior to release,” said the district.

New Firehall – $4 Million – cost is fairly reasonable according to UBID trustee

So, borrow up to $4 million for the Water Treatment Plant which will add another $2 million in interest – total $6 Million. That is with a $1.5 Million down payment. Total could be $7.5 Million for the Water Treatment Plant according to what little information we have been given. Don’t forget we haven’t been given any actual figures yet. And, how about the trustee who kept claiming all this was being done without raising the parcel taxes?

AND we know sewer is coming… that’s going to be a huge cost to add onto all of this! Last time the cost was $60 Million for less than a thousand homes.

I added the red font to the document below.

Now you can add another $4 Million for a ‘reasonable’ price. I would guess the Fire Dept. has money towards a firehall. How much will we have to borrow for this expenditure?

Total $11.5 Million dollars for roughly 700 households and this doesn’t even touch any upgrades to our failing infrastructure or anything else. These guys are spending like drunken sailors just like the pre 2011 board did.

This board refused to allow the landowners to information as to the pros and cons of joining the RD where we would be eligible for grants to ease the pain of such costly projects and instead are forcing all of us to bear this burden without any assistance.

Here’s the clip. Notice all 4 trustees minus the one they illegally ‘suspended’.

Why is UBID screwing around with the election date? Where’s the motion to make these changes?

This is the schedule agreed to by the Trustees at the April AGM in 2018 and published on the UBID website.

This is the schedule published Jan. 9, 2019 on the UBID website. NOTE: Election day is missing with no reason for the changes.

This is the schedule published today on the UBID website. So, it appears the idiots don’t get the point of an Annual General Meeting when we hear what they have done this past year and then vote accordingly if we haven’t voted at the advance poll.

They have no idea what they are doing. Don’t have a clue the purpose of monthly meetings or the AGM. They don’t understand why people have questions. What a dog’s breakfast.

Is it clear to you now?

Union Bay admin just copies and pastes from one meeting to the next. Oct. and Nov. 2018 minutes

The minutes rarely have anything new – it’s the same over and over. How is this guy too busy to answer correspondence OR learn the job?

Fire this admin for so many reasons. The most blatant is his siding with the illegal ‘suspension’ of Trustee Kaljur and refusing to provide a duly elected official with the information sent to all the trustees. This guy has never been suitable or qualified for the position. He can’t even get the bloody minutes straight as to what and where things transpired.

NOTE: I didn’t include the blank page from each meeting.

Video of Cowardly Union Bay Improvement District ‘secret meeting’ Jan. 17, 2019

Look at the cowardly men who hid the location of the Union Bay Improvement District meeting fearing an elected official might show up.

Bloody clueless as to the point of a meeting. One way communication and praise – North Korea?

There’s nothing new here. It’s the same crap at every meeting. These gutless wonders just want to read a few reports, talk when they feel like it, pat themselves on the back, read out letters to cover their ass – and do it all in secret.  No accountability or transparency.  No input or feedback from the landowners they supposedly represent. Where are the committees? Who do these tools get their direction from? Oh, let me guess…

Geezuz. Need a translator for the water report. Remedial class. Also, the boil water advisory signs were not put up Dec. 15, 2018 at the north and south points of Union Bay. Putting notices on mailboxes was not sufficient since it clearly stated in UBID’s own Emergency Response plan signage was to be at both those major points. I can guess why it wasn’t done – bet they had to order the signs because they weren’t prepared. We are being fed a constant diet of bullshit from this board.

Why haven’t they posted the letter sent to Trustee Kaljur advising her she is ‘suspended’ and by what authority they have ‘suspended’ her? There is absolutely no mention on the website.

No mention at this meeting about their undemocratic actions. All is well for them now they have their safe space where no one can question them. Are these grown men or ….? What a disgrace.

Trustee Kaljur can’t “bypass the information stream” if there isn’t any information coming from UBID!

The Chair claimed the meeting video and agenda would be posted in the next few days. That was a week ago. Where’s the video?

Where are the minutes of the Oct. 18, 2018 UBID meeting that were approved at the Nov. 15, 2018 meeting – we’re almost into Feb. and nothing!

Looks like they haven’t even created a folder for 2019 minutes – typical. Hire staff that have a clue how important it is to maintain records – these guys delete information. They are charged with keeping records. Why is that so hard to understand?
