What a joke. RCMP asking the public to id 2 adults who stole 2 backpacks. For what? They don’t do squat. You could id them, give them video of the action, lots of evidence and they won’t do a thing. I contacted Terragni the day (June 11, 2022) I was robbed of my property at the Union Bay Community Hall. Terragni said she’d talk to the robber – Mark Jurisich of Deep Water Recovery and get back to me. Terragni never called me back in spite of phone calls and emails and instead the robber returned the stolen property broken under the cover of darkness June 14, 2022. Terragni never contacted me until June 15, 2022, after I dropped off the damaged property at the RCMP detachment.

No charges filed against the robber. If you think contacting Terragni is going to result in the police charging someone who robbed or stole your property – think again. The pleas for the public help in the paper are just for show.

When I contact the police I know they aren’t going to help me, I contact them to document their inaction so there is a record.

The Comox Valley RCMP is seeking assistance from the public to identify the suspects believed to be involved in the theft of two backpacks at the Comox Wharf on June 14.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., two local youth left their backpacks in what they thought was a safe location to stay dry while they enjoyed an evening of fishing at the Comox Wharf. When they were finished, their backpacks had disappeared. Surveillance footage from the area showed a couple of people grabbing the backpacks and walking away with them.

“We take incidents like this seriously, especially when they impact local youth who should feel safe in our community,” said Const. Monika Terragni, media relations officer, Comox Valley RCMP. “We are counting on the public to assist with identifying these suspects so that we can move our investigation forward and potentially get these backpacks back to their owners.”

Anyone who believes they know the identity of the suspects, or has information about this incident, is asked to contact Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321 and refer to file number 2023-9224.
