Another day of torching apart the asbestos laden Miller Freeman.

Our MLA Josie Osborne has the power to put a stop to this and call an inquiry. Once Osborne got caught in the MNP scandal – she suddenly decided to call an inquiry.

Annette Bailey, Senior Project Manager, Authorization Specialist changed the purpose of the lease by amending it instead of treating it as a new application, depriving the public consultation on a lease approved until the year 2038 for unregulated ship breaking.

Bailey equates a log sort and ship breaking as being basically the same from the perspective of Senior Project Manager and Authorization Specialist, South Island Natural Resource District. Jurisch’s own words describe it as something unique, services not readily available:

To the best of my knowledge, we are the only company with such a facility whose operation is solely dedicated to the dismantling and recycling of vessels and barges.

What is the justification for this foreign owned company to be approved to pollute the waters of Baynes Sound by beaching and unregulated ship breaking, torching apart vessels on bare soil for years? The company admits it is unable to move the asbestos laden Miller Freeman any further than where it sits. Government sanctioned pollution.

This stinks and those involved are scrambling to cover their asses. The more public exposure will force them to act. Election year.
