Work started to re-enforce the shoreline and stop the constant erosion and washing out and into the ocean all that crap pushed out and piled up during the coal mining era. Digging down, laying filter cloth and rip rap being installed. A huge improvement compared to the previous ‘sealing’ applied to the crumbling east side still visible in 2005.

Again, years wasted as Kensington Island Properties was going to build residences on the coal hill, then it was going to be a gem of a golf course, then KIP dumped 27 contaminated acres of the coal hill back on the province. Then we were told 3 parties involved (West Frasier, Kensington Island Properties and the Province) were negotiating who would pay and how much. Couldn’t provide any more information because it was confidential. Was it held up this long because of KIP? Why is it still confidential since the remediation is obviously happening. What prompted it now since 2018 when Duncan Williams addressed the CVRD? Everything KIP gets involved with ends up screwy, alway ‘adjusting’ terms agreed upon.

KIP stuck those dirty little fingers everywhere, touching everything – stymieing needed projects that a community would have normally taken on and worked towards those goals. Instead, a snake oil salesman showed up bragging about the great and wonderful things that would be bestowed on our little piece of paradise and it would all be paid for by the the company he owned/invested/promoted. It would be coming in the next few years and all we had to do was support the product the snake oil salesman was selling. We supported it and were asked to wait each time a new name was announced or cleared land, excuses that other parties were preventing any progress, was out of their control, a victim, etc. So we all sat waiting, for years. And………………..
