I would like to thank the law firm of Borden Ladner Gervais who made this victory possible. They brought their client, Deep Water Recovery under the public spotlight, by suing me which has helped in our quest to shut this polluter down. None of this would have been possible without their actions and I’m so grateful, otherwise I would just have been some old woman flying a drone and no one would give a shit about what I was recording. Instead, there are people viewing my blog and my Youtube channel regularly along with the Province and Federal DFO. My drone videos are used as evidence by the Ministry. It’s been one victory after another and I am one happy old woman all thanks to the actions of BLG!

I’m thrilled at their actions which resulted in this wonderful victory. The counterclaim was such a hoot and left DWR facing a successful Protection of Public Participation Act application – who could have asked for more attention by doing this – a real gift. Thankfully, Borden Ladner Gervais dragged the PPPA out for 2 years which kept the story alive and focus again on their client. Then the delight from the judge awarding $165K costs tickled me to no end. Thanks so much for that huge amount because judges can award such a high rate to deter law firms from SLAPP tactics, and that’s what happened thanks to BLG’s hilarious response to my lawsuit opening them up to the PPPA which freezes all the documents – you can’t go back and say I’d like to change that. It’s you said it – now defend it. 🙂

Don’t want to leave out that I’m grateful Borden Ladner Gervais never bothered to examine me in the 3 years the case was going on. Never could figure that one out since Jurisich made all kinds of allegations about me and that would have been the perfect time to prove his claims. So, thanks for that one too as that certainly didn’t help DWR’s case. Rather than face trial (Jurisich) Borden Ladner Gervais provided an additional $40K and an apology letter to settle.

I’m over the moon thanks to Borden Ladner Gervais! Huge thanks to BLG as any other law firm might have advised Jurisich to admit the theft and make restitution for a drone worth less than $1K instead of forking out a whopping $210K and 3 years of legal work!

Feels like BLG is on our team – $210K for Jason’s bill and whatever BLG has billed for the last 3 years. Gotta be at least $1 Million. BLG has a good thing going on there. 🙂

I have thoroughly enjoyed this ride and the icing on the cake is that thanks to BLG there are no restrictions on me flying my drone over DWR property – in other words – nothing has changed and DWR is no further ahead than they were prior to stealing my drone. All that time and money and here I sit. :). Guess the only one not happy is Jurisich.
