The citizenry organized and became the Concerned Citizens of Baynes Sound (I’m not a member but fully support their efforts), they have worked countless hours, spent their own money on legal bills, shared information, held meetings, fundraised, created a website to inform the public, spent hundreds $$$ on FOI requests, contacted everyone they could think of that could help – for over 4 years! And what actions have the CVRD, the NDP (Josie Osborne) and Federal DFO taken to enforce their decisions for months? O.

The CVRD has done squat on their case against DWR which they initiated in April of 2022. Mine was initiated in June 2022, went through waiting 2 years for a decision on our Protection of Public Participation Act (we won, of course) and our trial was set for last October. Does the CVRD even have a trial date yet? If not, they are intentionally slow walking this and should be ashamed when we have witnessed them use their full force against Canadians who they deem violated bylaws. What’s going on here?

Government Institutions including the Minister of Environment cannot function alone. They rely on an able and informed citizenry to tell investigators about environmental problems, lodge complaints and spread the word about corporate misconduct so that the government is informed about what’s going on.

Our laws mean nothing if they are not enforced and they must be enforced consistently and fairly. This is not happening in Union Bay. It’s not like they are unaware as DFO visits my blog regularly. So what is the excuse? People need to get pissed off and start putting pressure on these politicians (the exception is MP Gord Johns) – Osborne wanted praise when the lease was cancelled but big f*cking deal if the admitted thief Mark Jurisich just continues no matter what fines or orders are issued. JFC. The community has been patient but this is just unacceptable. After years of work and enough evidence to sink any other company – this foreign owned – by an admitted Australian thief Mark Jurisich and convicted felon, money laundering, racketeering American Robert Bohn Sr – appears to be immune.

Why did Osborne not correct MLA David Williams who stood up in the legislature and introduced the f*cking banana farm guy and ‘gaduate’ of Grant McEwan Community College, Mike Butler and recently appointed as CEO of Bohn and Jurisich’s Union Bay Industries which they are using now that Deep Water Recovery’s reputation is in the tank thanks to thug actions by Jurisich. Wasn’t Osborne listening when Williams introduced these conmen talking about Union Bay and ship building and ship breaking in the legislature?????? This shit all happened under her watch while she was minister responsible and she has yet to make it right. JFC.
